WOMEN: Womens F.A. National League2001Bristol Rovers vs. Fulham Date: Result: Comment: Sources: Expunged: Award H: Award A: Award D: Unplayed: Details: Bristol Rovers Ladies 1 -6 Fulham Ladies Fulham Ladies went for a day trip to the West Country and despite having a number of team members on International duty walloped National Premier Southern Division rivals Bristol Rovers 6-1. Fulham went in front in the opening minutes of the game with a headed goal from Marianne Pettersen but a defensive error allowed Rovers back in the game after a further 15 minutes. Fortunately Deena Rahman was able to open her scoring record for the season by flighting in a ball from just in front of Bristol Rover's goal. Rovers were not prepared to go quietly and continued to make a contest of the game. The halftime score underlined the fact that Fulham had not been able to play their usual passing game. Fulham Manager Gaute Haugenes must have had a good half time session because the Whites came out with a far better attitude. Before long Fulham were dominating the game and their pressure led to a third goal this time a pile driver from Rachel McArthur. The third goal was a trigger for Fulham to put on the style and the Rovers defence had a torrid time for the rest of the game. Despite an excellent performance from their goalkeeper Kristy Moore was able to score another two with Marianne Pettersen wrapping it up with a penalty Fulham manager Gaute Haugenes commented " Bristol were well organised and battled very hard. We had to swop three of four positions to get more creative players into midfield and dominated the second half". The win puts Fulham at the top of the division 2 points clear of Chelsea Ladies with 2 games in hand. COME ON YOU WHITES!
