WOMEN: Womens F.A. National League2001Coventry City vs. Garswood Saints Date: Result: Comment: Sources: Expunged: Award H: Award A: Award D: Unplayed: Details: On a dreadful pitch City - in their new kit provided by Eyesite Opticians - ironically fell to a debatable fourth-minute penalty decision from referee Mike Highton, who thought Alicia Copping had fouled Amanda Pierce. The decision left the City bench fuming and, in the 24th minute, City boss Dave Cartwright fell foul of the referee for questioning why a free kick was not awarded for a foul on his daughter Maria which required treatment. After City secretary Kev Monks had also been given a lecture by the referee at the interval, the match officials allowed the game to flow in the second period. But in the 51st minute City found themselves two goals down when a Nicky Chatterley shot hit Sophie Turner's right hand post and rebounded to the feet of Tracey Wheeldon. Hard-working skipper Nicola Foskett, Becky Green and Natasha Lynch all were unlucky with good efforts before the Sky Blues pulled one back. Garswood keeper Marita Louis kept hold of the ball for more than six seconds and was penalised with an indirect free-kick. Nicola Foskett tapped the ball to Natasha White, who superbly drilled the ball through a crowded penalty area from 20 yards. SKY BLUES: Sophie Turner, Alicia Copping, Amy Meaden (C Maslen), Katherine Hartley, Maria Cartwright, Karen Weston, Leona McCook, Nicola Foskett, Natasha White, Natasha Lynch, Amy Pinfold (Becky Green).
