Another re-jigged line-up and another heavy defeat for the Dons. Bridge failed to recover from his injury received the previous week, Fuller and Iles, selected for his debut, were unable to get away from military duty and Smith was unavailable, so Fuce dropped back into defence alongside Webb, and Field, Ugle and Stewart were promoted from the reserves.

Again, Wimbledon started brightly, both Stewart and Richfield made chances but shot over, but unbeaten Oxford soon got into their stride and tested Mortimer. Lemmer, captain in place of Bridge, swopped Ugle and Richfield at this point and almost immediately Meredith pulled one back from a corner. However,that was all Wimbledon could manage and Jones scored number five for City ten minutes from the final whistle.
