London Senior Cup - 2 R
Plough Lane

Wimbledon
0 - 1
Leytonstone
?

Jack Wallis returned at half-back in place of Pickton, else it was an unchanged side that opposed a weakened Leytonstone team in the replayed first round London Senior Cup tie in front of 6,800 fans. The visitors had Jarvis, Noble and former Don Len Wallis playing for England against Scotland at Hull, Smith representing the Navy and keeper Groves had to pull out at the last minute through injury.

Both sides took it in turn to attack from the start, but neither keeper was extended, although Strather went close with a shot from wide and Jack Wallis had an effort deflected for a corner. Jim Smith then failed to control a pass from Stannard that would have left him with an open goal and Leytonstone took advantage of the let off and took the lead. Vale sent a free-kick high towards the goal, Nicholl nodded it on and Trevor Bailey headed it out of the reach of Jim Haycock. They should have had another when Haydock failed to hold Bailey’s shot but F. Smith raced in to meet the rebound but hurriedly lifted the ball over the bar.

For the greater part of the second half the home side had the better of the play and twenty minutes from time Harry Stannard appeared to have levelled but, after consultation with his linesman, the referee disallowed the score for offside. Arthur Maggs then went on a run from full-back that culminated in a shot that Dawber had to scramble around the post for a corner. A quick passing move between Bull, Head and Stannard seemed certain to bring an equaliser, but Pullinger managed to clear at the last. Although outplayed, the visitors managed to hold on to the end and into the next round.
