Terry Burton watched the Dons get their pre-season off to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Sutton United at Gander Green Lane.

Following a corner from the right, Trond Anderson gave Burton's side the lead with a bouncing short from just inside the area that rolled inside the near post.

However, the Ryman League side came back into the game three minutes before half-time when Rob Gier was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box and the home side restored parity from the spot.

On the hour, the Dons were awarded a debatable spot-kick of their own when a Sutton defender was adjudged to have deliberately handled in the box and Neal Ardley converted from 12 yards.

Ten minutes from time the Dons wrapped up the victory when substitute Wayne Gray finished well from Alan Kimble's cross.

Kevin Cooper and Patrick Agyemang impressed and Lionel Morgan provided some entertainment on the left side of midfield.

Terry Burton was pleased with the workout in the 3-1 victory and said after the game, "We were always in control of things but they made things difficult for us and gave us a good challenge. I played a slightly different formation to what we have been used to and that is what these games are all about."

Terry gave a debut to Jermaine Darlington, who played at right-back before moving into midfield in the second-half.

"I thought Jermaine was very solid and steady and I was pleased with him. He is a versatile player who can play in a couple of different positions and we may try him in a couple more in the next few weeks."
