With Douglas recovered it was no surprise that the same side that had played so well the previous Saturday were again selected.

Wycombe had a reshuffled front line and that resulted in them playing a direct passing game that the Dons defence were mostly able to deal easily with, but the forwards particularly Nash and Edelston, were not on top form and were unable to press home the advantage given to them by a dominant midfield. The home side took the lead after fifteen minutes when Edelston played in Laker to score and the home crowd, the largest of the season so far, anticipated victory, but seven minutes later Birdseye ran onto a throw-in and drove home the equaliser. The home side were on the attack for long spells, but the forwards were guilty of over-playing and Wanderers took the lead against the run of play two minutes before the interval, a splendid header from Brewster.

The visitor's defiant defence were able to stop the Dons from scoring on several occasions. Stannard beat the keeper, who was left stranded on the edge of his area, but the forward's shot was scrambled off the line, then Stannard forced a save from Hallwood, Head headed the ball over the keeper but the ball was cleared from under the crossbar. Wycombe almost increased their lead, but Larkins over-ran the ball and Haydock twice conceded free-kicks for over-carrying the ball when clearing, but Wimbledon maintained their overall advantage and a long throw from Douglas resulted in a long melee that was finally cleared. With twenty minutes to go Head and Edelston combined for Head to level the score from a scrimmage, during which Jackson was injured and forced to leave the field for ten minutes. His return coincided with a rousing final rally from the hosts, forcing shot after shot and rousing the crowd into a frenzy, but the Wycombe goal lead a charmed life and the final whistle blew with the scores still level and the unbeaten home record intact.
