Nash and Captain Lemmer were missing for the visit to the Spotted Dog Ground, with Fuce starting up front and young Dave Walker stepping up for his debut after several good performances for the reserves.

In a match almost as dismal as the weather Wimbledon allowed Clapton their first League win of the season. The first half was devoid of any meaningful incident as both side struggled to cope with the heavy pitch and sticky ball.

The second half wasn't much better. Kodish put the home side in the lead after 63 minutes, before the Dons had even had an effort on goal. Stannard should have equalised when Fuce picked up a loose ball and set him clean through, but he hesitated and was bundled off the ball before he could get his shot away. The same player had another chance when a clearance from Cousins fell straight to him on the right, but after beating two players his shot went narrowly wide. When, after a period of pressure Stannard headed against the post and Head rattled the crossbar from the rebound, it was apparent it was not to be Wimbledon's day. Clapton sealed victory with a second goal a couple of minutes from the end when Kodish beat Cannon to a cross from Sanders and the ball crashed into the roof of the net.
