ex-Chester goalkeeper who had previously played for Loughborough College in the Central Amateur League. A local physical education teacher, he signed for the Dons soon after the start of the 1939/40 season, and was hospitalised in his first game, a war-time friendly at Sandy Lane against Tooting & Mitcham.

He became the regular keeper when the club restarted after the War and played in the 1946 Amateur Cup Final at the age of 30, won a Surrey Senior Cup winners medal and was capped for Surrey. Played on until his mid-30s.
