George Rayment was born in Wimbledon in 1872 to John, a Farrier from Broughling, Hertfordshire, and Elizabeth Powles, living at 5 South Place with elder sisters Lizzie and Alice. He was baptised on 26 May 1872. John Rayment's blacksmiths was at 26 Ridgeway in 1881, next door to the Jenkins' family grovcers, and employed 6 men and a boy. The family - now including Rosetta, Kate, Ethel and Lillian - lived on site. By 1891 William and Marguerite had arrived and George and Rosetta were helping out in the family business.

George was the Old Centrals' first captain and mentioned in the earliest known report to include any players' names, against Belmore in November 1889. A fine full back, he continued playing until the turn of the century, turning out for the "Past XI" on Christmas Day 1900, appearing in the Herald Cup in January 1901, before travelling with the team as committee member in charge, co-incidentally as younger brother William broke into the first team, and making a final appearance as a last minute goalkeeper at the start of the 1904/05 season.

Still living at home, now 76 Ridgway, with his parents in early 1901, and now shown as a shoeing smith, George married Matilda Robinson from Kingsland in Romford in October that year.

By 1911 they had two sons, Frederick John (born late 1902) and Stanley (aged 1) and were living with Matilda's elderly father William at 51 Trewice Road, Raynes Park. George was still a shoeing smith.

George, still resident at 51 Trewice Road, died at Kingston Hospital on 11 April 1937, leaving Matilda effects to the value of £956/3/5.
