Born in Peterborough in late 1870, the family - including brother Louis, another Old Central, had moved to Battersea by the middle of the decade, and by 1891 had settled at 50 Graham Road, Wimbledon.

A coach wheeler, like his father Henry, he was possibly connected to the Old Central school via his brother Louis, a teacher.

He played a handful of games in 1890/91 and the following season, mostly in the back line but also standing in as goalkeeper on occasion.

He later became a school attendance officer.
