One of the most genuine sportsman in the area, an old and respected member of the Village Club where he won many billiards handicaps. Associated with local sport for many years, starting with St. John's Cricket Club. Played for several years as a fast and sturdy three-quarter back with Wimbledon Rugby Club and was a keen cyclist and fisherman. A grocer's assistant at his father's shop at 30 Denmark Road, he died of consumption aged just 40.
