Ray Goddard
(1977/78 - 1980/81)
After starting out as an amateur at Fulham, goalkeeper Ray Goddard signed professional for Orient in February 1967. He stayed at Brisbane Road for seven seasons and appeared more than 275 times before being transferred to Millwall in November 1974. He had played more than 80 times for the Lions by the time he signed for Wimbledon for £4,500 in February 1978.

Manager Dario Gradi needed an experienced custodian to shore up his leaky defence and after making his debut in a goal-less draw with Scunthorpe United that month he went on to be virtually ever present for the next four seasons as the club yo-yoed between the Fourth and the Third divisions.

Dave Beasant replaced him during the 1980-81 campaign but he was recalled on the last day of the season to take a final bow and signed off his football career in style by firing a penalty past Bury's Neville Southall. He played out the remainder of his career with non-league side Wealdstone and after working in the building trade when his playing days were over, he retired to run a bar in Spain. He died from a stroke in December 2007 at the age of 58.
