Sandy Jones
(1940/41 - 1947/48)
The third Welsh Guardsman to join the club during the 1940/41 season was Corporal Jones. When the first game of the season was switched at short notice from Plough Lane to Sandy Lane, and the team bus failed to appear, the players and officials were forced to use public transport to get to the game and eventually arrived three players short. An appeal for players from the crowd attracted three Welsh Guardsmen, but only two pairs of boots. Grainger and Richards played and the unfortunate Jones was left to watch the ten men Dons. After four months of inactivity Wimbledon finally got going again and Sandy finally got his game.

Sandy also returned to the club after the war for a couple of seasons.
