Elder brother of Edgar, Arnold played forward to his younger brother's back in the Wimbledon & District League before both joined Wimbledon at the start of the 1914/15 season.

Joined the Royal Garrison Artillery during the War and suffered a gunshot wound in his foot in 1918, but still turned out several times in 1920/21.
