Jeff Darey
(1951/52 - 1955/56)
Jeff joined the club as a junior in 1950 and as an eighteen year old helped the Dons to second place in the Isthmian League in 1951/52. As a cente-forward his appearance were restricted by club legend Harry Stannard, and he assisted Chelsea as an amateur. When Stannard retired at the end of the 1953/54 season he excelled and at the end of the season played 3 times for the England amateur international team, scoring on his debut at Hampden Park against Scotland on 09 April 1955. There was another appearance for England at the start of the following season before he resigned from the club after losing his form and his England place during Les Henley's early "M" formation trials. He moved on to Athenian League Hendon, where 26 goals in 50 games over two seasons earned him a semi-professional contract at Brighton & Hove Albion. He stayed at the Goldstone Ground for four seasons, a member of their Division Three (South) title winning squad, and making ten Football League appearances, before moving onto Southern League Guildford City.

He settled in Hove and was partner in a printing firm before retiring in February 1999.
