Chris played and scored for the successful Suburban League winning reserve team in 1976/77 before his 16th birthday but signed as an apprentice for Millwall before the Dons joined the League.

He played 63 times in the League for Millwall before Dave Bassett brought him and Tony Tagg to Wimbledon on free transfers in 1982, but he failed to hold down a regular spot in the first team and moved onto Wealdstone in 1984.
