Guy was an Ilford full-back who accompanied the Dons on their tour of Denmark and Sweden in the summer of 1936, having captained the Essex side to the Amateur Cup final against Casuals at Selhurst Park (and a replay at Upton Park) a few weeks earlier.

He made five appearances in the England amateur side between 1934 and 1936 and after the tour finished he and Maurice Edelston joined up with the Great Britain squad for the farcical 1936 Olympic tournament in Germany, playing in the 2-0 1st round win over China, the 4-5 2nd round defeat to Poland and a 1-4 friendly loss against Germany.
