Ted Murphy
(1960/61 - 1969/70)
A 21 year old defender at Epsom in 1955/56, also played for Dorking, and left early in the 1956/57 season for Tooting & Mitcham where he gained Isthmian League and London F.A. representative honours. Joined the Dons in 1960/61 as an almost direct replacement for out of favour captain, Jim Wright, who moved in the opposite direction. Ted was almost ever-present until half-way through Wimbledon's first season in the Southern League, 1964/65, but only played sporadically in the first team after that. He retired at the end of the 1965/66 season, then helped run the reserve team. In 1968/69 acted as manager, trainer and sponge man and made a brief comeback in the Premier Midweek Floodlit League in 1969/70.
