Norman Williams
(1958/59 - 1965/66)
When winger Norman left Tooting & Mitcham in the close season of 1958 he was not short of suitors. He'd been with the Sandy Lane club for three seasons, having previously trialled with Gillingham's reserves, but his departure signalled a scramble for his signature. Having played representative football for the Surrey F.A., Isthmian League and F.A. XI's, professional clubs Spurs, Charlton, Leeds and Millwall were all interested and he signed amateur forms for the latter club, playing a game for their reserve team in August 1958, but he had no desire to turn professional and Wimbledon persuaded him to put pen to paper ahead of offers from, amongst others, Kingstonian and Carshalton Athletic. Norman stayed with Wimbledon until he retired at the end of the 1965/66 season.
