Mick Smith
(1979/80 - 1986/87)
Centre-back known as Rock-Nut was one of the mainstays of the Wimbledon side that stormed up the Football League in the 1980s. It was said he could head the ball further than most players could kick it.

Injury ended his time with the Dons just as they reached the top flight and, after a spell in non-league football, Bobby Moncur brought Smith to rock-bottom Hartlepool in 1989. Moncur lost his job soon afterwards but Smith played an important role as Pools climbed out of relegation trouble under Cyril Knowles.
