Difficulty in raising a team caused Wimbledon to disband for the season.

Difficulty in raising a team has caused the Dons to disband for the season. Though this news will no doubt come as a shock to some followers of the club, it was not altogether unexpected. Two matches only have been played, the one with the Welsh Guards with humiliating consequences for a team like Wimbledon. So many of the players are on war work and unable to turn out with any degree of regularity that the possibility of raising a team was almost out of the question. The match with Sutton United last week had to be cancelled because of team difficulties, and during the weekend it was decided to cancel the fixtures arranged with Walton-on-Thames, Metropolitan Police and Bromley. The Dons were drawn against Erith & Belvedere in the first round of the London Senior Cup, but the Kent club will have a walk-over.
