Next to visit Plough Lane were pre-War Isthmian League rivals, Leytonstone, who had also only recently restarted after the hostilities eased. They were expected to prove a much sterner test than the previous two matches and a good indication of how the new players might adapt to the rigours of Isthmian League football. Several changes were again made from the previous week. Webb returned at centre-half in place of the unavailable captain, Bert Bridge, Norman Smith, a Surrey Junior, displaced Hunt for his first start and Brereton was preferred to James. Stan Ryan was delayed on his bus journey to the ground so a second debutant, McGuire, who had been playing with Chorley in the Lancashire Combination, was drafted in at the last minute.

The first half was very even, with both sides having spells of attacking pressure, although the Dons created the best chances. Brereton had a shot smartly saved by McGuff and pushed the rebound to Taylor, but the diminutive winger shot high over from close range. McGuire also set up a good chance for Taylor, beating three defenders before crossing only for the keeper to turn the diminutive wingers shot around the post with his foot. The Dons went in 1-0 up after Pettyfer broke down the wing and centred for McGuire to head in.

Wimbledon took the initiative at the start of the second spell and soon increased their lead, Brereton and Taylor switching places and passes for the latter to shoot home via a deflection. Leytonstone came back into the game and Featherstone sent in two long shots that went close before he latched onto a high centre from McGregor and sent in a fierce shot that Cains could only parry to future Don, Charlie Smith, who scored with ease. That was the end of the scoring and the Dons held out to record a good win.
