The Dons first visit to Wycombe Wanderers since a friendly at the start of the War provided an entertaining game and there was a good crowd in attendance despite the rain. Bridge and Corke again swapped starting positions with Parsons and Webb and Odell started up front in place of K Meredith.

Wanderers had continued to play throughout the war and were crowned champions of the Great Western League, so the Dons were always anticipating a tough tussle. They weren't disappointed. It took no longer than three minutes for the first goal but Meredith equalised ten minutes later. The home centre-forward put his side ahead with a good shot and despite the visitors forcing several corners that remained the score at the break.

The Wimbledon forwards had much less of the ball in the second half as Wycombe's experience told and the Buckinghamshire side soon went further ahead, the centre-forward scoring again, this time off the post. The fourth and final home goal came after a mix-up in the Dons' goalmouth.
