Members of the 164th Wimbledon and 43rd Merton & Morden squadrons combined to provide the opposition for the last game of the season. It was the first time they had all played together and they did extremely well to keep the score down under the circumstances, with the defence - including Dons' EW Corke - in fine form. Pre-War Don Jack Fuller played his first football since breaking his ankle in service several months previously and the unavailability of several selected players meant E Summers was drafted in for his solitary first team appearance, whilst Webb was moved into the forward line, starting at centre-forward but later moving to outside-right after an injury.

The Dons should have piled up a big score in the first half, but the ATC keeper, Webb, was in outstanding form and saved his team time and again, most notably with exceptional saves from Chandler, Webb and Fuller. It took until the half-hour mark before Chandler finally scored, beating the keeper to Fuller's through-ball. Despite the 80 degree heat the ATC never looked like wilting as the second half continued as the first had finished, with the Dons on the attack. Soon after the interval Brereton played in Chandler for the second. Fuller hit the bar with a first-time drive and Webb pushed a shot from Taylor against the post before Meredith set up Chandler for his, and the Dons, third without reply.
