Spurs included five professionals for this friendly fixture and were thus vastly superior to the home side. Viard was absent, so Richfield started outside Gill on the left wing, both out of position. Tottenham dominated the first thirty minutes and gave Haydock every chance to impress with shots from all angles. The only time he was beaten was by a clever Ferris header from a wide free-kick. Nash put in some good shots and Edelston shot over from close range. Before the half was over Cannon cleared off the line from Foot after Haydock had blocked a shot from Woodward. |
