Fulham's 'A' team provided no contest for the ever improving Dons in front of the largest crowd since play restarted after the War. Bridge again resumed at centre-half in place of Webb and two young forwards were given their chance; Cooper who had been playing with the local ATC and Odell coming in for Brereton and Pettyfer respectively. Fulham included at least three players that had made several appearances in their reserve team. The goals flowed regularly from the first few minutes. Smith got the opener, and soon after McGuire finished Meredith's knock down from Taylor's cross. Cooper set up Meredith for the third and McGuire crossed for Taylor to nab the fourth. Taylor also got the fifth, straight from a corner, with McGuire following in the head it into the back of the net after it had already been judged to have crossed the line. |
