Wimbledon called up debutant D Morgan from the reserves, in place of Meredith, for the short trip to Richmond Road. Kingstonian were also struggling in the league, with seven defeats from the eleven games played, but they dealt the Dons another heavy defeat.

For the first twenty minutes the defences held the upper hand. Bill Whittaker, who had been assisting Blackpool and Brentford during the war, and Abbott had the only shots of note. K's opened their account when Rixon shot low past Mortimer after King had missed the ball from Abbott's cross. The Dons soon levelled, Richfield forcing a corner from Prett's centre and Head turned the ball in with a twist of his head. It only took the home side a minute to regain their lead, Fuller let an upfield punt go, thinking it was going to one of his own men, but it was Abbott waiting and he passed to Bartlett who scored easily.

Head had three chances to equalise at the start of the second half, but was denied by Lightfoot, and once they'd weathered the storm Kingstonian sealed the victory. Geoff Whittaker shot through a crowd of players to beat Mortimer, then the keeper was charged after catching a high shot from Rixon, Bartlett on hand to net the loose ball. The home side sealed victory five minutes from time with a ground shot from Bartlett.
