The selection committee were able to pick the same side as the previous game for the first time, but Fuller was unable to escape military duties and so Fennell dropped into the back two with travelling reserve White called up to make his debut on the right of the half-back line. The Dons took the game to Wanderers in the first fifteen minutes, but Richfield ballooned over the best chance. The home side gradually settled into the game and McCullum gave them the lead after 25 minutes, running through the defence and giving Mortimer no chance from a few yards out. A mistake from Mortimer gifted Wycombe a second, mis-timing his advance on Avery and only succeeding in turning the ball inside the far post. |
