With Nash and Stannard missing, Fuce and Hudson their replacements, and Fuller selected ahead of Cousins, the Dons were always going to struggle in this semi-final replay, again held at Kingstonian’s Richmond Road ground, in front of 5,900 supporters. It was a much better game than the one Saturday gone, and Wimbledon had considerably more of the play, but Walton were able to take advantage of their opponents' weak spots and ran out easy winners. With just twelve minutes gone, by which time Hudson had already been injured and moved to outside-right, Walton took the lead against the run of play, when Hoyle headed home a cross from Johnson. |
