Maurice Richfield (2)
2 - 2
St. Albans City

Travel difficulties meant the visitors arrived late, so it was agreed to play 40 minutes each way with no break at half-time.

It took only five minutes for the Dons to take advantage. Head beat his man and passed to Neil, he sold his marker a dummy and fed Richfield who cracked the ball past Longman. The second goal came before the teams turned around, Richfield ran through to outside left and beat down a challenge from the defender then hit the ball goal-wards. The keeper could only parry the ball back into play and Neil followed up, but it was decided the ball was already over the line and Richfield was credited with his second.

Wimbledon visibly tired in the second period, and St. Albans pulled one back through O'Connell after some good forward movement. With ten minutes remaining City got the equaliser and the home side held on grimly for the point.
