Gill for Lloyd was the only selection change, but on arriving to catch the train Smith was informed he'd been suspended for a month for failing to turn up for a County game. Viard was also a later replacement for Laker.

It's unlikely, however, that a first choice team would have made much difference to the result, as Southall ended all Wimbledon cup interest for the season with a well balanced team and a virile attack. Despite facing a heavy wind it took the Athenian League side only five minutes to take the lead, Pyne netting from a difficult angle. The Dons should have equalised after Saunders parried a shot from Richfield, then managed to scramble away efforts from Fuce and Meredith. Pyne and Sentance both tested Haydock before the pair combined for the later to head in Southall's second.

After a concerted effort by the visitors at the start of the second half the home side took control and further increased their lead through Sentance. Pyne got his second with a shot along the ground and completed his hat-trick by running between the backs and rounding Haydock to score into an empty target.
