The inclusion of Stannard meant that Wimbledon finished their season with six of the regular pre-war players in the side.

In the first half the Dons were unlucky not to score on several occasions, but the only time the ball hit the back of the net Richfield was adjudged offside.

Nash got the winner early in the second half, shooting hard into the corner of the net from Richfield's corner. Edelston also went close, while at the other end the home defence dealt admirably as the professionals forced three consecutive corners.
