Lloyd replaced cup-tied Gill at right-half, with Fuce recalled to the forward line at outside-right, Richfield taking Lloyd's position at inside-right. Wimbledon were confident of progressing to the next round, but it was Ilford that provided the early pressure and Haydock was bombarded with shots in the first twenty minutes, but he positioned himself well and rode his luck when Winder hit the foot of the upright with the goal at his mercy. Pratt had the ball in the net after a poor back-pass from Clark but the referee, after consultation, inexplicably ruled out a goal for offside. The Dons came into the game and Richfield worked his way into a good position, but shot straight at the keeper, hence it remained goalless when the whistle blew to end the period. |
