Only one change was made to the previous week’s team, Jim Smith returning at right-wing in preference to Green. An even match followed, in which the major difference was the approach of the forwards. Dulwich moved the ball forward more quickly and took their chances better, whilst the Dons tried to work clever openings and were often cut out by the visiting defence. Jover paved the way for the Hamlet victory in the seventh minute, running onto a pass from late replacement Cowley and before Haydock had a chance to clear the steered the ball wide of him and into goal. The decisive goal from Beglan was worthy of winning any game. A mistake at the back gave possession to Jover, Beglan controlled his cross with his right foot and drove the ball home with his left. |
