AJohn Hartson brace handed Wimbledon their first win of the season after a second half collapse from the Owls.

Both teams had gone into the break without opening the scoring, but goals from Damien Francis, Hartson (2) and Jason Euell (2) left the Wednesday fans stunned.

Wimbledon avenged their 5-1 defeat at Hillsborough last season, as the Owls were punished for missing a hatful of chances in the opening half.

Italian forward, Michele di Piedi, had caused Wimbledon all kinds of problems on his home debut for the Owls. His best chance fell on 14 minutes when his glancing header flew agonisingly wide following an Owen Quinn cross.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Owls striker Andy Booth was denied by Wimbledon keeper Kelvin Davis.

Booth was punished for his miss on 50 minutes when Wimbledon broke the deadlock.

The Owls failed to clear Neil Ardley's corner to allow Francis to prod a volley into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.

Ardley then forced Owls `keeper Kevin Pressman into a fine one-handed save as Wimbledon started to pile on the pressure.

Pressman then denied Euell with a brilliant point blank save when the Dons forward should have doubled his side's lead.

Wimbledon made it 2-0 on 63 minutes. Hartson easily shrugged off an Andy Hinchcliffe challenge before slotting his shot through Pressman's legs.

Just four minutes later, Hartson grabbed his second of the afternoon as the Owls defence started to crumble.

The Welsh international squeezed his tight angled shot past Pressman after shaking off a lacklustre tackle from Des Walker.

Wednesday then caved in as Euell got his name on the scoresheet. Walker's poor back pass was collected by the former England under-21 star, who was left with only Pressman to beat.

Euell then managed to grab his second as the Owls seemed to lose all fight.

A quick one-two with Hartson confused the Wednesday defence to leave Euell with an easy finish. At the final whistle the remaining Owls fans voiced their disapproval at their side's poor display with a chorus of boos.
