AFC Wimbledon's remarkable rise up the football pyramid shows no sign of slowing after the club won promotion to the Blue Square Premier.

The Dons' 3-0 home win over St Albans City on Saturday ensured AFC Wimbledon went up as Blue Square South champions.

In front of a record 4,722 crowd at Kingsmeadow, Kennedy Adjei, Sam Hatton and Jason Goodliffe scored the goals.

The club was founded in 2002 by fans of Wimbledon who were angry at the club's decision to move to Milton Keynes.

The Dons were third in their first season in the Combined Counties League before winning the title a year later.

Last season AFC Wimbledon won promotion to Blue Square South after winning the Ryman Premier Division play-offs.

The Dons finished the current season three points ahead of Hampton & Richmond, a week after the two clubs had shared a 1-1 draw, Jon Main scoring for AFC Wimbledon three minutes from time.

Promotion from the Blue Square Premier would give AFC Wimbledon a place in the Football League.
