The Christmas match brought to town another previous Amateur Cup finalist in the shape of Swindon Victoria. Ron Head returned to the forward line after a fortnight injured, in place of Thomas, who had played his last game for the Club and was moving to New Zealand, and Norman Smith, at home on leave from the Army for the holidays, made a rare appearance in place of namesake Jim Smith, with Harry Bull moving across to his more usual left-wing position.

With a strong wind at their back the Dons forwards turned the game into a shooting competition and rattled in six goals without reply in the first half. Harry Stannard got the first two, followed by scores from Norman Smith and Ron Head, Smith then got his second before Stannard completed his hat-trick.

Even with the wind at their backs in the second half the visitors showed little improvement and the only interest was whether Green would bag a goal. He was presented with several good chances by Stannard, Head and Smith, but the closest he managed was a header against the upright and a shot that hit the bar. Wallis showed him the way with in the final minute with the seventh goal. Haydock had only two saves to make during the whole game, but the Victoria keeper, Manson â€" brother of the Sunderland keeper â€" made some great saves without which the final score might have been considerably higher.
