The Dons sixth win in seven games left several teams above them in the race for a play-off place looking anxiously over their shoulders as the season entered its final lap. The hosts should have been well ahead at half time but had to wait until the 58th minute before Shipperley finally headed them in front. Young Adam Nowland nearly scored his first senior goal with a fierce drive before McAnuff wrapped up the points when his deflected shot beat Bankole in the Crewe goal.

"After we dominated the first half without scoring I started to wonder if it was going to be our night," Murdoch counted. "But credit to the lads, they came out in the second half and took the game by the horns. I am really pleased we have now won three successive games."
