An injury to Jack Wallis meant a debut for promising reserve Ken Perkins and Jock Woods and Doug Munday swopped half-back and forward slots, Harry Stannard moving to centre-forward in place of dropped Charlie Smith and Harry Bull returning on the wing. Perkins started the move in the thirteenth minute that lead to the opening goal, checking a Woking player and running on before feeding Stannard, he rounded Morris and flicked to the ball for Munday to score with a first time drive. Seaman cleared a Stannard shot off the line with the keeper beaten before the centre-forward set through Bull to increase the Dons lead in the seventeenth minute. Eight minutes before the break the home side got their third, Stannard â€" much improved from the previous week â€" dribbled from the half-way line and past three defenders before swinging in a cross that Ron Head met perfectly to score with a low drive. Just before the break Stannard got his own reward and Wimbledon’s fourth with a cross-shot from the left. |
