Trond Andersen struck in injury time as Wimbledon snatched a last-gasp victory to end Nottingham Forest's run of four successive First Division wins.

The Dons, without Charlton-bound striker John Hartson, were hanging on to a 13th-minute goal by Jason Euell when the real drama started in added time.

Forest's pressure was eventually rewarded with an equaliser from Tony Vaughan but within a minute Wimbledon responded to snatch the winner courtesy of Norwegian Andersen.

With Hartson's move to The Valley looking imminent, Wimbledon looked to the returning Euell for inspiration and he responded with the goal that divided the sides for so long.

Defensive lapses

He capitalised on defensive lapses by David Prutton and then skipper Chris Bart-Williams to go clear on goalkeeper Dave Beasant and finish in style.

Chances were at a premium for much of the first half as Wimbledon battled to hold on to their lead and their biggest scare came when Forest had a penalty appeal turned down after Robbie Blake was sent tumbling.

Forest's tempo increased significantly in the second half as they laid siege to the Wimbledon goal and it looked for so long as though it would be one of those days when a goal just would not come.

But in the first minute of added time substitute Keith Foy curled a delightful ball to the near post and a diving header from Vaughan flew past Wimbledon keeper Kelvin Davis.

Penalised

But you cannot afford to switch off against Wimbledon and Forest were penalised for doing just that inside 90 seconds.

They won a corner on the left and when Neal Ardley's kick came in, Andersen was given space to send a flashing header past Beasant.

It was tough on Forest, who in recent weeks have regained the identity of a promotion outfit, but it was a day when Wimbledon proved yet again they do not lie down easily.
