Wimbledon
Freddie Gauntlett, Jimmy Smith

Wimbledon travelled to Cheshunt without Stannard and Ron Head, Vic Bird and Charlie Smith returning to the forward line.

The Dons started in good style, and the home goalkeeper was fortunate to save several shots, although in the main the visiting forwards were not in very good form. Tufnell Park were rarely in the picture until the end of the first half, both Arthur Maggs and Doug Munday were little troubled before then, but as half-time approached Maggs had to clear off the line when Jack Haydock was caught napping. Jim Smith, who had missed a good opportunity earlier, gave Wimbledon the lead after Freddie Gauntlett had set him up with a pass. Gauntlett also had the ball in the net, but was pulled back for offside.

After the interval, Tufnell Park started off in a business-like manner and it looked as though the Dons would have to pull out all the stops to keep the lead. Haydock was called upon to make many saves and for a long spell the home side held the initiative, but Wimbledon managed to hold on and when Gauntlett broke away and scored the second the game was virtually won. Ken Lister almost added a third from a close-range free-kick, but after that play petered out and the game ended without any further score.
