For the greater part of the second half the home side had the better of the play and twenty minutes from time Harry Stannard appeared to have levelled but, after consultation with his linesman, the referee disallowed the score for offside. A quick passing move between Bull, Head and Stannard seemed certain to bring an equaliser, but Pullinger managed to clear at the last. Although outplayed, the visitors managed to hold on to the end and into the next round.
