More than thirty players and official travelled to Cornwall for the Easter tour, basing themselves at the Mount’s Bay Hotel in Penzance, right on the seafront. On Good Friday they took on the local side, Cornish County Cup finalists, in front of the largest crowd seen that season, over 3,500 attracted to watch the game. Jack Wallis was unavailable, so Jock Woods again switched between midfield and attack with Ken Perkins taking the freed half-back position. The first half way very even, Vic Bird hitting the post after a pass from Harry Bull the closest either side came to scoring, Arthur Parsons had to pull of several good saves at the other end to keep the scores level. The crowd were amused owing to the referee’s watch stopping, resulting in eight additional minutes being played in the scoreless first half. |
