Aweek on from the Hendon epic, the roles were reversed as an injury to Hounslow right half Fell after 20 minutes seriously handicapped the visitors and allowed Wimbledon to win their way into round three of the London Senior Cup. With the pitch covered in thick mud, Stannard gave the hosts the lead after 38 minutes and, despite being seriously handicapped, the ten men equalised before the break. Jack Wallis restored the Dons advantage early in the second half and, with the muddy conditions taking their toll on the game, the only notable incident in the last quarter came when the elastic in Maggs’ shorts broke and players from both sides surrounded him in order to protect his modesty while he changed. |
