16 year Beckenham school boy John Clark deputised for the injured Jock Woods at outside right as Wimbledon advanced into the quarter finals of the London Senior Cup at the expense of Athenian League leaders Hayes. In what many judges reckoned to be their finest display of the season, Stannard and Jack Wallis gave the hosts a two goal lead before Lovell pulled one back just before the interval.
