Still with seven games to play in the last two weeks of the season, the Dons drew 0-0 at Loakes Park. With centre half Bryant keeping a tight hold on Stannard, chances were at a premium as Wycombe set out to frustrate their opponents following their trouncing in SW19 three days earlier. The nearest the visitors came to scoring was when Derek Clarke’s shot hit the post and rebounded across the goal with both Gauntlett and Stannard just inches from providing the finishing touch. Parsons was forced to make a brilliant save from Dean as the hosts nearly snatched both points in the closing minutes. Four coachloads of fans from Plough Lane were again encouraged by the impressive form of the young Dons in the side.
