After Pat Field was carried off having sustained an ankle injury soon after the interval, the 10 man Dons went down to a heavy defeat at Brooklands. Having been on top for most of the first half, when Clarke, Stannard and Gauntlett all had chances to open the scoring, Wimbledon fell behind just before the break and two late goals reflected the hosts dominance in the final half hour.
