Freddie Gauntlett (?,?,?)
At Plough Lane

With the cricket season well underway, the Casuals were no longer allowed to use the outfield of the Oval for their matches and so the game was switched to Plough Lane. Pegasus and England amateur international goalkeeper Ben Brown produced a series of fine saves to keep the Dons forwards at bay but even his brilliance could not deny Freddie Gauntlett a hat trick. The inside forward grabbed his first in the closing moments of the first period and scored two more in an exciting second half in which the visitors pushed Wimbledon all the way. With the Wallis brothers and Field missing, Perkins, Jennings and Robbins had the chance to shine in the hosts back line. Hubert Doggart, who netted the Casuals second goal, was a talented cricketer who went on to be President of the MCC in the early 1980s.
