Playing with pace and skill at Crewe's Gresty Road, the Dons recorded their first win since the opening day of the season. Having taken the lead through Brown at the end of their first attack of the game, Crewe went close several times towards the end of the first half before the visitors turned on the style after the break. Goals from Connelly, Cooper and Nielsen led to a ultimately comfortable victory.

"We have been threatening a performance like that for a few games," a relieved Burton said. "We had that little bit of luck that has been missing in recent weeks but we took our goals well and ended up with a really good result."
