Jim Smith returned from injury with Freddie Gauntlett again tried on the inside in place of Charlie Smith against a much below strength Dulwich Hamlet side. Judged by the first-half display of the visitors, there was no indication that their reverse would be so pronounced, as they were quicker in tackles and the Dons’ defence took a long time to settle down and the only goal in the opening period came from a penalty. Vic Bird lobbed in a dangerous centre and, as Harry Stannard dashed up to reach the ball a defender handled. Stannard took the kick and made no mistake. Jack Wallis received a leg injury and changed places with Jock Woods about ten minutes before the interval and for a time Dulwich had most of the play. |
